Acting as Agent for Harewood House Trust Ltd, W.R Dunn is responsible for all building matters for Harewood House and the majority of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings on the estate.
A structural survey identified substantial timber decay across the main roof. As a result, we provided specialist conservation consultancy services, plus architecture, building surveying, quantity surveying and project management.
Following this, we were instructed to repair the external fabric of the wings and links of the main house constructed in the 18th century. Our role involved a complete re-design of the flat roof coverings and identifying the source of on-going roof leaks, with the aim to ensure the new work had a 100-year design life on completion.
We were required to interpret the appropriate elements from The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) philosophy, English Heritage constraints and maintain tight financial control.
